| quick update: Brugge - SINS - contests |
[Apr. 27th, 2009|06:00 pm] |
Back from a lovely weekend away! I've always wanted to go to Bruges, and since we had plans to go to Belgium anyway for the Hot Rod show S.I.N.S. organized by the Scapers.be, we've decided to stop over there for Friday night. The drive was brutal - 6 hours for merely 300 km... But the wonderful medieval centre of Bruges made up for all the stress! I've never seen such a lovely city! Sure, it's touristy but not in a bad way. Oh and have I mentioned the chocolate stores yet? I'll upload pix to my flickr later!!!
SINS was cool - it was nice meeting up with peopel we haven't seen in a while 8errm, wintertime) and we could make some great connections for the next issue of Fräuleinwunder magazine. The whole show was very well organized - lots of vendors, beautiful cars and a great party. Too bad I don't like Belgian beer so much... Again, stay tuned for the pix!
To finish this really small entry - I'm taking part in 2 contests:
One is by Andi Pandi, a pinup artist (and hot model herself!) who I adore and the winner of her contest will be drawn by her. You can vote for me by adding her to your myspace, go to her photoalbums and choose my photo :) To be honest I don't think I'll be able to catch as many votes as I'd need to win, but it's always nice to see someone is voting for you! By the way thanks to all of you who have voted so far!
Oh and the second contest is at www.bettiepagemovie.com Just join the forum to vote for one of the girls! The lovely Helen Highwater of Pinup Parade is entering also!
Thank you so much for your support!

| NICO Ausstellung in Köln |
[Nov. 7th, 2008|05:48 pm] |

[Oct. 19th, 2008|06:33 pm] |
Puzzled.
Yesterday I received an envelope In the mail from the UK, inside a Swedish Donald Duck Halloween comic. Kalle Anka. No postcard with it, nothing. I wonder if it was just a mistake (I did order magazines from the UK, but...) or if somebody thought I'd like it or...? No idea. Did YOU send it to me? If yes, why?? |

| One of those days |
[Aug. 20th, 2008|10:38 pm] |
I feel I have to write downwhat today was like for me, just to get rid of it so that I can sleep. As a teacher of 21 boys and 8 girls between 6 and 7 years old, no day is like another. Very often it's the most wonderful job in the world, just not today. It didn't start too bad, but soon enough I saw a girl putting a "necklace" (which was basically a chain to help them calculate) round the neck of her neighbour who turned red as she wasn't getting enough air. First panic, but I could release her. then I saw that she hadn't written down one number (after 10 minutes of time, some of the other kids in the class were already done) and I asked her why, in a slightly unfriendly tone. She explained she wasn't up to it, to which i replied that I didn#t care, she would have to do it anyway. I also asked her to leave the room so that she could work on her sheet outside where it was more quiet. Her response was crying, telling me she hates school and me, more crying with a lot of hugging... I stayed strong and told her in a more friendly, softer way that still, she would have to finish her work before she could come back in again. 5 min later I went to look if she needed help, and she hadn't even started. I didn't even ask why this time (I know she is smart enough to solve it) and told her that she would have to stay there, even during the breakfast, and if she wanted this? More cussing and crying from her side. I took her with me when all the other kids went outside and played. She started to work, slowly. I encouraged her. After 3 hours, she finally finished her paper and my nerves were already hackled up. In the meantime I had to prevent two boys from fighting with their scissors, and the same ones tried to stick a pencil into the ear of the other. don't they learn these things at home?? They're in 2nd grade now! the rest of the day was pretty rubbish. I tried to save the atmosphere (I hate it when I have to send the kids home without having refreshed the classroom climate) and we had some good moments singing, but in the end they were also pretty beat up just as myself. It's just not fair that the whole group has to suffer under some others... Tomorrow I will only be in my class for 2 lessons and I'll try to make it as nice as possible for all of them. Thanks for listening. Goodnight! |

We celebrated my birthday first in Newport (Aquarium) , then in the evening at the Doug Fir in Portland, a nice place in a lovely city.
But let's start where it starts... (I'll make it short, promised!)

| | sad | ] | Sad.... well, one of my cousins died today (I didn't know him well, but this uncle of mine has just lost his wife and he already lost another son years ago and now he is all alone, this is making me sad) and another friend of my family also died today. It's not affecting me personally so much, but it is very sad for my Mom and this makes me sad. What a weird Friday.
The world is upside down. |

Talking about the weather
Today at 11 o' clock - I was in my classroom - the sky suddenly became darker and darker, as if a thunderstorm came up - and suddenly it was dark like night! I've never seen anything like this before... In addition to this, the lights went on and off. Most of the kids were totally fascinated, some rrally frightened and started crying. I was expecting some huge lightnings but it only rained heavily and then it became slowly clearer and clearer...

Las week I had an amazing photoshooting (film noir) with Digital artist Robin Preston. It was such a great great honour to work with him, and so much fun too! Here are some results so far - they turned out exactly as I wanted them to be!

| Vlissingen 2008 |
[Apr. 27th, 2008|05:58 pm] |
Just returned from a sunny weekend in Vlissingen - we went there for the annual Teddyboy Festival wish I found quite boring this year. I've never been a big Teddyboy Fan, but at least you could find a lot of cool photo subjects - I love the older english Teddyboys all dressed up - but this year was more or less boring...
Photos to proof it are here:

And this is where I was just a couple of hours ago....
It's only 2,5 or 3 hours away and I really plan to go there way more often! The sea, the sun and the beach just make me feel so alive! xxx |

I know I'm not posting much at the moment - I always intend to and formulate the words in my inner livejournal brain - but they never make it til here... Its a bit sad as life is really exciting at the moment - mainly because of the succesful release of our magazine! We get such positive feedback and sooo many peopel who want to advertise or work for us - its making me feel very, very energetic.
School is quite the opposite. Today was fine, but the last weeks have been very tiring. They're awesome, just so young, and so many... I know they'll grow up and learn the rules, I just wish they already were at that point.
The festival season will start soon - I can't wait for Walldorf! But this weekend we'll be in Vlissingen. I'm not such a big Teddyboy fan but it'll be nice to get dressed up and meet some old friends, and take photos of course. I love the pix I took of older Teddyboys in their drapes.
Last week I met my lovely Zoe Scarlett again - she was round the corner for a photoshooting with Pixeleye and Waltz motorcycles and so we met for a drink. I'm always so amazed at her beauty and charm!
Right now I'm uploading photos from a party 2 weeks ago, they're quite wild, haha! I think the persons photographed will soon ask me to delete a few of them, so watch while they're still there ;)

And I'll soon be uploading photos from a dinner t our house - tiki/hawaiian themed. I had a "wild hibiscus in chamapgne" as aperitif, then a "coconut-curry-sop wit either gambas or fruit", then porc filet or a zuchini/carrot burger (vegetarian) with in palmsugar caramelized peanuts, sugarpeas with sesame and cashew safran rice", then as dessert a coconut mousse with fresh fruits, a mango sauce and a macadamia nut mousse, and last some self-made pralinés (pink pepper, oregano or strawberry vinegar"with coffee. Sounds good? xxx
